Gary is an experienced winemaker
who travels widely throughout Australia and overseas providing technical
advice and assistance to wine industry clients on all aspects of wine
production. This provides him with the opportunity to remain up to date
with world wide winemaking trends and viticultural issues.
Gary has qualifications in biochemistry
and wine science and many years experience in senior winemaking and
management; wine show judging, wine research and extension. He is one
of Australia's most respected wine professionals.
1994 - Present: Director
and Senior Consultant, the Wine Network Group. Principally works in
the Wine Network Consulting arm of the group which provides a complete
range of technical support services to the wine industry, specialising
in winemaking, winery design and construction, wine evaluation, viticulture
and business planning for wineries.
1988 – 1994: Owner and operator
- Oenotec Consulting Services Pty Ltd. An independent consultancy to
the wine industry specializing in winemaking, winery design and business
planning for small wineries.
1984 - 1988: Group Leader
Extension Services, The Australian Wine Research Institute, Glen Osmond
SA. Advisory Oenologist for the Australian wine industry, responsible
to the Director for liaison with industry and the analytical and extension
services provided by the Group.
1977 - 1984: Initially Assistant
winery manager, then Chief Winemaker and General manager, Arrowfield
Wines, Pty Ltd, Jerrys Plains NSW.
1970 - 1976: Production
manager, cidermaker, The Cider Barrel Pty Ltd Pakenham Vic.

1978: Bachelor Applied Science
(Wine science), Riverina-Murray Institute of Higher Education. Wagga
