Wine Network Consulting in Turkey

The rapid growth of our wine industry and the impressive quality of its production has resulted in Australian expertise being highly valued by other wine-producing countries. This is particularly true of countries such as Bulgaria and Turkey who are rediscovering ancient wine traditions.

Wine Network has been assisting a large Turkish winery to develop new vineyards and improve wine production techniques to reach world standards. Our consultants, Robert Paul and John Runting, have spent several months in the Thrace region during vintage and pruning time training local staff and liaising with management to improve quality. The winery is situated near the Gallipoli Peninsula but sources grapes from all the major growing regions of Turkey.

The Turkish wine industry is growing rapidly. Enthusiasm is high, quality will improve and investment money seems available. Tourists provide a ready market for much of the production but focus on export will increase. There are several indigenous varieties with international potential.

Wine Network has the proven ability to work in new and emerging wine regions of the world providing advice and assistance by working with the local winemaking and viticulture teams to improve quality and efficiency.

Read Robert's article in the March/April 2006 edition of the Australian and New Zealand wine Industry Journal for further insight into one of the world's oldest wine-producing countries.
